The hike starts from the square in front of the Tre Caciare mountain hut, at an altitude of 1440 m. Follow CAI trail 405, which loops around the summit of Monte Girella in a clockwise direction. Along the way, you’ll pass the panoramic viewpoint near the Tre Caciare hut, then reach the area known as Casali, which offers beautiful views toward the eastern coastline.
At the fork, take the path toward the Girella spring (a water source that flows year-round, even in summer, though modestly) and continue on to the ephemeral pond, a scenic point that spans from Gran Sasso to the Sibillini Mountains, crossing the Laga range.
From here, descend through the Vallone del Vescovo until you return to the starting point.
